It has been days since I had left Uttarakhand. I was missing the calmness, peace, dawn, dusk, everything. I was planning to go somewhere and that is when a friend of mine told me about Mukhteshwar.

On the way to Mukhteshwar

Mukhteshwar is a secluded town in Nainital District. The name has been derived from the word “Moksh” and the temple is of God Shiv. This place is just 220 miles from Delhi and thus providing a perfect weekend gateway.

We just went with our eagerness and reached the bus stand. Having no prior reservations, we boarded a roadways bus. Although the bus journey was not that comfortable. 7 hours, the Month of June, Hot weather, an Outdated bus, and around 70–80 people. We were in a heat bowl. But someone has said, “If the destination is beautiful then never worry about the path”.

Haldwani Bus Stand

We deboarded the bus around 7 in the morning. And we were at the foothills of “The Himalayas“. We rented a cab and told him about “Mukhteshwar”. He was very polite and generous. We visited many towns, places in between. Bhimtal, Ghorakhal, Tea Garden, and many more.

Tea Garden

You break away from the routine and adapt to something totally new and this is what makes travelling beautiful. While you soak in new culture, tradition, environment you get connected to innerself.

Uttarakhand is a paradise. The more you visit, the more you admire. Earlier also, I have stayed in Uttarakhand for around 5 years. But still, every time I visit, it has offered something new. For me, Uttarakhand is a temple of knowledge, religion, and culture.
